Beginners Driving Lessons

You've probably heard lots of talk about stalling and how difficult it can be to control the clutch. Well, in truth it's not as hard as some people make out. Once we understand how things work and what we have to do to control them it's easy! The majority of people are surprised how much they achieve in the first hour.

So, what is the secret to successfully learning to drive?

Well, the answer is simple - it's you! To learn to drive well requires a fair amount of commitment from you. Ideally two lessons per week will help you develop at a reasonable rate. But, if you can't do that then a regular weekly lesson is fine. Do bear in mind that the national average for people passing their driving test first time is approximately 47 hours of lessons plus another 20 hours practice with parents or family members. Everyone learns at a different rate and the above figures are an average, so realistically you should be budgeting for 30 to 40 hours.

What's next?

Our Beginners Driving Lessons are just the start. Once you have mastered the basics we move on to applying those basic principles to every driving situation. Even the most complex junction or roundabout is dealt with using these principles. The reason why becoming a competent driver takes so long is because we have to think "on the move." We have to make good safe decisions based on the present situation. What we will do in your driving lessons is help you develop this thought process and sound judgement.

Everyone knows the Driving Test contains a set of manoeuvres. These are designed to test your control and observational skills. The manoeuvres are Forward and Reverse Bay Park, Parallel Park and pulling up on the right hand side of the road. During your driving lessons you will become confident in performing these exercises.

As you approach Driving Test standard you will be offered Motorway Driving Lessons. This is an essential skill to have and can be done before or after your test should you want.
